In addition to the landscapes, the paintings of the ‘cross sections’ form an independent group. Despite their highly abstract content, the multi-layered oil paintings have a representational basis. They are inspired by photographs of cross-section samples from paintings. Their analyses reveal the material-technical structure of the respective painting. The originals are worked on like scores. Colours are intensified, colour fields are worked freely. Despite the predictability of the designs, each painting leads to an independent expression. Picture titles also refer to biblical or historical themes.
Landscape, forest, mountains, monuments - The landscape pictures do not depict localisable places. They are created on the basis of drawings from nature and evoke personal memories of experienced landscape spaces, with allegorical moments also playing a role in the designs.
The ‘monuments’ are partly based on models created with fragments of packaging material, which leave stylistic or functional categorisations open
This technical term from the world of computers unites a group of works with paintings and drawings created in the 1990s. The source material for the paintings are the circuit boards built into electronic devices, carriers for electronic components. These “circuit boards” caught my attention due to their graphic and coloristic characteristics. I collected photographic images of circuit boards, of “motherboards”, and began to combine them with the architectural floor plans of places of worship such as cathedrals and churches.
Drawings in front of nature are the backbone of Tramèr's artistic work and are part of a long tradition. Tramèr originally worked exclusively as a draughtsman before devoting himself to painting. Many of his studies were done in Swiss mountainous regions and in the Basel Jura. The sheet sizes are not large, but correspond to the formats of the sketchbooks that many Romantic artists, for example, carried with them on their travels.

Books are created as media to accompany painting. Their development requires extensive research. The themes vary. Three books have been published so far. The first is out of print and is being reworked. A fourth work is in progress.
